Michael A. "Ice Mike" Melton

1957 - 2023

Michael A. Melton, also known as Ice Mike, passed away on September 2, 2023, at the age of 65 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Born on December 10, 1957, in New Orleans, Michael had a fulfilling life surrounded by loved ones. Michael is survived by his daughter, Monifa M. Guyton, and son-in-law, Gary Guyton. His grandchildren, Grayson, Mason, and Mercy Guyton brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, Michael had a faithful friend Darlene Smith. Bear who stood by his side as his right-hand man. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Melton and Charita Mederos as well as his nephews, Keenan and Patrick Harrison, and niece, Megan Johnson, along with all his great nephews and nieces. Michael dedicated over 30 years of his life to serving the New Orleans community as a police officer. Outside of his career, Michael had a passion for coaching peewee football, golf, bowling, fishing, and dog training. Michael attended McDonald 35 High School, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Michael's life was not only defined by his career and hobbies but also by his faith. He worshipped at Franklin Ave. A Ceremony to Honor and Celebrate Michael's life will take place at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Hwy., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, September 16, 2023, for 1:30 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Michael are invited to attend and pay their respects.
