Mildred Levith Obituary

LEVITH Mildred Labovitz Levith passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008 in Marietta, GA. She was the wife of the late Judge Raymond D. Levith, mother of Earl (wife Denise) of Marietta, GA, Neil (wife Terrilyn) of New Orleans, LA, Jan Levith Wachter (husband Paul) of Marietta, GA, Joe (wife Virginia) of Melborne, FL and Alan (wife Terri) of Carlisle, PA. Sister of Jack Landis, Sam Landis, Melvyn (wife Karen) Labovitz and the late Paul Labovitz and Bernard Labovitz. Grandmother of Reuben, Levi and Gabrielle Levith, Eric, Jeffrey and Dana Wachter, Chauntell Veit, Rachel Rizzuto, Farrah and Jessica Levith, Lauren, Alysha and Aaron Levith, Caroline, Margaret and Elizabeth Benton-Levith. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mildred was born on November 2, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA and resided in New Orleans for 30 years prior to moving to Marietta, GA in 1993. She also lived in Cleveland, Ohio, Fort Knox, Kentucky, Charleston, West Virginia, and Watsonville, California. She was a secretary and administrative assistant at Tulane University and LSU as well as a legal secretary at several law offices in the New Orleans area. She was a member of the Hadassah, the Sisterhoods of the Conservative Congregation in New Orleans, Tikvat Shalom and Congregation Chevra Thillim. Her family was her life; babies were her joy. She will be sorely missed. Funeral Services at Chevra Thillim Memorial Park, 5000 Iberville Street, New Orleans, LA, on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 2 p.m. Rabbi Yossi Nemes officiating. No flowers please, memorials to Shir Chadash Conservative Congregation, Weinstein's Hospices of Marietta, GA or charities of your choice. Arrangements by THARP-SONTHEIMER FUNERAL HOME of Metairie. I was so sorry to learn of your mother's death. What a great lady she was. Your dad told me many stories about her. And of course, I thought the world of your dad and still talk about him to my family.
