Morris Metoyer Obituary

Morris Joseph "Sonny" Metoyer peacefully departed this earth surrounded by his family on Tuesday evening, June 11, 2024. Beloved husband of 62 years to Jean LeBlanc Metoyer. Father to Derrick J. Metoyer (Darcel) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Grandfather to Tamala Metoyer Johnson (Steven) of Atlanta, GA. Morris was born to the late Pearl Ratleff Metoyer and Morris Metoyer on June 29, 1942, in New Orleans, LA. He was a graduate of Corpus Christi Elementary school, and St. Augustine High School. Brother to Janice Metoyer Eugene, Gregory G. Metoyer (Maida), and Bruce G. Metoyer (Dale). Brother-in-law to Mayola LeBlanc of Syracuse, NY, and Albert LeBlanc of Houston, TX. He also leaves to cherish his memories, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews, cousins, Godchildren, extended family, and friends. Morris and Jean moved to Syracuse, New York, where they resided for 32 years. He was employed by the Chrysler Corporation as a Machine Repairman until his retirement. Once retired in 2003, they relocated to Lacombe, LA. In retirement, Morris enjoyed spending time outdoors, grilling, working in his workshop/garage, carpentry, and spending time with family. He was a charter member of the Party People Mardi Gras Club and an active member of the United Auto Workers Union (UAW). Although he was well loved and will be greatly missed, he will remain with us in our hearts and memories. Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Corpus Christi-Epiphany Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Ave., New Orleans, LA 70116. Visitation with the family begins at 8:00 a.m., Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. Father Henry Davis, S.S.J, Celebrant. Private Interment.
