Nelson Edward Madere

Nelson Edward Madere, 73 years old, died peacefully on Thursday June 29, 2023 in the home of his cousin Jules Vicknair. Nelson is the beloved son of the late Edward K. Madere and the Claire Vicknair Madere. He is survived by numerous cousins and his many friends in the Deaf Community. Nelson was an active participant at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church and Blessed Francis X. Seelos Catholic Church. Nelson was actively involved in the Council of Organizations Serving the Deaf (COSD), St. Gerard Community for the Deaf (serving on the Board of Trustees), and the Krewe of Dauphine. He enjoyed baking cookies with the St. Joseph Altar Deaf Guild, and he was a Cursillista of Cursillo #67. Relatives, friends, and parishioners of Blessed Francis X. Seelos Catholic Church and Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church are invited to attend services. Visitation will be at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, LaPlace, LA on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by Mass 11:00 a.m. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve, LA.
