Nelson Ragas Obituary

Nelson Dominic Ragas, Sr., "Bozo", peacefully passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at Tulane Medical Center surrounded by his family at the age of 81. He was married to the late Francis Dorothy Mackey Ragas, whom he always kept dear in his heart. He was the son of the late August Ragas, Sr. and the late Florence Turner Ragas and surviving step-mother, Marguerite Ragas. Brother of Sr. (Julia), Clark, Valeria Ragas and the late August, Jr. (Juanita), Wilma Parker, (Joseph) Mervin Ragas, (Theresa), Florence Barthelemy; Also survived by his children, son in laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Relatives and friends of the family, employers of Sizler Corporation and Electro Coal Terminal, members of Plaquemines Parish Commission Council, are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at St Patrick's Catholic Church, 28698 Highway 23, Port Sulphur, LA at 11:00 am; Visitation will begin at 9:00 am - 11:00 am; Fr Gerard Stapleton, celebrant; Interment: Diamond Cemetery, Diamond, LA; Please visit www.rhodesfuneral.com to sign his guestbook; Arrangements by D.W. Well Baubba grand dad Mr.Nelson D Ragas sr when I was a child I laugh alone with you as a child, when I became a man we sit & talk & ran the streets just a little, now you are with grandmother and I was told about the little dance you and her use to do, the short stories you told me as you were growing up how she started you smoking and she was the only one for you Baubba rest in peace I will always miss you and never forget you and the times we had. Your Grand son Mr.J.R.Fields Love always.

To the man I called Mr. Ragas. I loved you in my way & will always will, I'll miss you my buddy, I'll miss you my friend I'll miss you my daddy. In the time of your calling from a higher calling, I know you are going to that magic place this time you had to go he said it's time,( God had the last word. J.R. he is really taking it hard. However for the rest of my life I will always think of you. Your laugh, your smile , in your final hours we were there with you. Daddy no more pain, I will keep my word from you. you came to live with me in 1998 until 9-1-2014 and we had so many good times and our fussing days but life is just that, you were not cut short of nothing. Now you and mom can do your dancing & laughing. The parish did rock, I told you when that time would come you would rock that parish. Daddy you Look Very, Very Good. Mr. Nelson D. Ragas, sr. I will carry out you wishes. Love. J.R. & Ms.Kris(Florence,eva,william) all in one In your final hours I was there with you really going to miss you everything about you I know you want me to be strong but I'm not. I'll miss you my buddy I promise you my love will never end. you were the Greatest Dad. we really going to miss you it will be different without you time will be hard and slow, time came when you had to go, I promise my love for you will never end. In your final hour we all was there, I know you want us to be strong but it's hard, but you will be in that magic place with peace and all your laugher, Just be good & don't make fun or star at people.
