Noah Dominique Robert

ROBERT Noah Dominique Robert A native of Ascension Parish, he died on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center. Noah was born on August 30, 1923 in Burnside, LA. He was a 1940 graduate of Catholic High School in Donaldsonville. Noah enrolled in college at Southwestern Louisiana Institute the same year however his college attendance was interrupted by World War II when he enlisted in the Naval Officer Training Program. He went on to complete his naval midshipmen schooling at Columbia University in New York City where he was commissioned an Ensign, USNR. He was assigned to the USS LST 942 which was engaged in several landings in the South Pacific. During that time he was promoted to captain of the vessel. Following the surrender of Japan, Noah returned home to graduate from college with a degree in Economics. After a primary career in marketing, his second career involved tourism in the city of New Orleans as well as plantation tours along the River Road. Visiting at St. Anne Catholic Church, Sorrento, on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Michael Galea. Entombment in Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery, Donaldsonville. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Saundra Robert. Preceded in death by his parents, Clovis and Bernadette Troxclair Robert. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Baton Rouge Clinic and Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Noah's name to Ascension Catholic School, 618 Iberville, Donaldsonville, or the American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
