Olivia Bernice Evans Boyd

Olivia Bernice (Evans) Boyd entered eternal rest on Friday, August 5, 2022, at the age of 98. She was born in New Orleans to the union of the late Joshua Evans and Olivia (Butler) Evans. She was a graduate of McDonogh #35 High School. She worked as a telephone operator for South Central Bell and later as a paraprofessional at Lawless Elementary School and Lafayette Elementary School, until her retirement. She was a member of New Light Baptist Church, in New Orleans; she later moved her spiritual affiliation to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, in Westwego, where she was a faithful and active member until she was no longer able to attend. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings - Joshua Joseph Evans, Charles Evans, and Cassie Evans; husband - Mack A. Boyd Sr.; son - Mack A. Boyd Jr.; granddaughter - Karla J. Boyd; and great-grandsons - Donovan A. Williams and Karl G. Boyd. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons - Walter R. Boyd, Sr. (Evangeline) and Keith E. Boyd Sr. (Kimberly), of Powder Springs, Georgia; daughters - Sheila Boyd Lea and Lisa Boyd Sholeye, of Pflugerville, Texas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives; friends; and Pastors and members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, New Light Baptist Church, and Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church, are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 10:00 AM. This will be held at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1419 Fourth Street, Westwego, LA 70094 (office 504-341-9324), officiated by Pastor Woodrow Hayden. The Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. The Interment will take place at Restlawn Park Cemetery, 3450 US-90 West, Avondale, LA 70094. Due to Covid-19, everyone in attendance is requested to wear a face mask.
