Patricia Ann Byrne Byars

1944 - 2016

Patricia Ann Byrne Byars of Marrero Louisiana passed away in her home on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the age of seventy-two surrounded by loved ones. She passed quietly from this life after a journey of endurance through the trials of cancer. She remained her feisty, funny, charming and loving self until the very end. Patsy was born on April 24, 1944 in New Orleans and was a life-long resident of Marrero. She was a graduate of Immaculata High School and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana. For 40 years until the time of her death, she worked as the secretary for Visitation of Our Lady School where she was the heartbeat of the school community. She was the daughter of the late Michael Joseph Byrne and the late Loretta Victoria Smith Byrne. She is survived by her sister Peggy Byrne Rome (Al), son Chad Frederick Byars (Brigitte), daughter Keri Byars Purcell (Drew), and nieces Jill Rome McWhorter (Terry) and Rebecca Rome Lassere (Gregory). She is also survived by her grandchildren Jonah Byars, Quinn Byars, Jack Purcell, Karly Anne Purcell, great-nephews Trey and Austin McWhorter, Ryan Lassere and a great-niece Abigail Lassere. She is survived by many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 3500 Ames Blvd., Marrero, LA on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 9AM until 11:30AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the church on Thursday at 11:30AM with Fr. Daniel H. Green officiating. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
