Patricia Hassan Obituary

Patricia "Mama Patsy" Estavan Hassan arrived on October 11, 1941, and departed on January 10, 2024. She was born in New Orleans to Ruth Thomas and Edward Estavan as the fourth of six children. She married her high school sweetheart, Baker Hassan Jr., in 1958 and they raised a beautiful family. Together they had four children, Baker Hassan III (Jenell), Vernon Hassan (Dianna), Angelique Miller (Thomas), and Michelle Roussell (Bruce). She was a devoted grandmother to Amanda Hassan, Baker Hassan IV (Kaci), Bruce Roussell III (Brianna), Tyler Miller, Justin Roussell, Reece Miller, and great-grandmother to Malakai, Aiden, Makenzie, Rory, and Lincoln. She was a faithful member of St. Gabriel Church for 45 years where she cherished her church community. Patricia had tremendous love for her family and friends. She enjoyed music, casinos, game shows, soap operas, heartwarming phone conversations, and poring over photos of her loved ones. With her infectious laugh and sense of humor, Patsy had a way of bringing joy to everyone who knew her. As a loving childcare provider for 25 years, Mama Patsy nurtured and taught many children in her Gentilly Woods home. Her loss is felt deeply and her life is celebrated by her sisters, Ruth Ann Bolds (Lloyd) and Sonia Labat (late Peter Jr.), two daughters and their spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Baker Jr., sons Baker III and Vernon, brothers Carlos, Edward Jr., and Honoray. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 20, at 11 a.m., at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 4700 Pineda Street, New Orleans, LA, 70126. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow Mass at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3, 3421 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, LA, 70112. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Charbonnet-Labat-Glapion Funeral Home, 1615 St. Phillips Street, New Orleans, LA 70116.
