Johnny Northumberland called me recently and asked me if I'd heard this news, which I hadn't. I knew Peter when we were kids - he was always cheerful, optimistic and with his eyes on the horizon. I hadn't seen him for many years, but whenever I hear the name "Peter Drake", all I can do is smile. For many of use kids, he was kind of like a life "teacher". God bless, and RIP. Jim Denton.

I have just heard this news - which I am extremely sorry to hear. I knew Peter at Tulane. We had only reconnected a couple of years ago. My deepest condolences. J. Hexham Northumberland

I had the high honor of working with Pete for several years at WH Linder & Assoc. Pete had a very short list of peers when designing for or talking about drilling rigs, and he was an absolute wizard at being able to derive complicated formulae for just about any liquid or gas flow or pressure problem by starting with a white sheet of paper and Einstein's formula "E=mC squared". No one else I have ever met has had that capability. We worked on many projects together, myself as a junior engineer at the time learning from The Man, and I remember fondly quite a few of them which had some memorable aspects to them. Pete retired from Linder quite a few tears ago, several years before meeting Carol, and we did not stay in contact very much. I've missed Pete from time to time, and I've remembered some good times and a lot of advice he had given me. Rest easy, ole buddy.
