Randall and I were photography friends via Flickr, and finally, he and Ken & I got to meet and do a little shooting with our cameras. He taught me how to use Ancestry.com and I felt “part of the family.” We shared online time in a little group that Jules, in Michigan created, and I saw and was inspired by his New Orleans photos. Ken & I bought a home in New Orleans and always hoped that he and EVa would come to visit- and COVID struck. Life is so unfair. SO many years we all thought we might share. I have loved his portraits of his beautiful Eva, and felt like I knew her, too, thought we only spoke on the phone. I cannot say well enough what a special person Randall was to many of us. My heart broke the day his daughter called to tell me the sad news. He will be in our hearts forever.

I was a student of Mr Schexnayder and worked in the same office with him for my work study from 1996-2000 and there was no doubt he was an excellent leader, empathetic instructor, he cared about the pharmacy students so deeply. I am glad I had a chance in 2019 to come back and take a picture with him and hear about his upcoming retirement
You will be absolutely missed by the Xavier Family!

I remember going into my 3p year and I was short $643 after my student loans were applied. It was Friday and school was starting on Monday. The lady at the desk told me that if I didn´t come up with the money I wouldn´t be able attend classes. Mr Schexnayder happened to be in the gym and noticed that I was very upset. We talked and he reminded me that i could apply the money that I was getting for being a RA towards my balance. I was able to start class on Monday and the rest is history. We became good friends and that was 32 years ago. I spent some time with him at homecoming 2015 and i reminded him of how he helped me and we laughed. He was always a person that looked out for his students and he loved his job. Im going to miss you my friend my GOD keep you in his arms. And may GOD comfort your family during this difficult time. Peace & LOVE

Sincerely,

Randall and I resided in the same area of Vacherie. His mother and mine were best friends growing up so I had a relationship with his family. Our senior year of high school we rode the school bus together, a long journey from Vacherie to St James LA. His wife, Eva, and I were besties. I brought notes between the two of them that flourished throughout college. He was at Xavier (as we attended together) and she at Loyola University. It was a joy to the two of them as their love lasted through his natural life continuing beautiful tree branches to both the Dumas and Schexnayder families, as he wished in life and reported via .com. Eva, Christopher, Jessica and the entire family, Randall is at peace.
