René is survived by his daughters, Andreé Renée Jacques (Michael Thornhill), Janine Marie Jacques (Paul) Koenig, and Alicia Ethel Jacques (Donald) Schwarzenbach, his nephew Peter Carl Muller, and his three grandchildren Joshua Koenig, Rebecca Koenig and Adam Schwarzenbach, and numerous other relatives and friends. René served in the Louisiana National Guard and the U. S. Army Reserve for thirty -two years attaining the retiring rank of Colonel. The many decorations and honors he received included the Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. He also was an active member of the Washington Artillery Veterans Association (WAVA), serving in the offices of President and Treasurer, as well as becoming a Life Member and receiving a medal for the Honorable Order of St. Barbara. René worked in the banking and legal industry in New Orleans for nearly forty years at the Bank of Louisiana, Newman, Drolla, Mathis, Brady and Wakefield, PLC, Hibernia National Bank, Dryades Savings Bank, Gulf Coast Bank and retired from Gulf National Bank. No man was more dedicated to the well-being of the Washington Artillery. He was the most honest and hard-working individual I ever knew. I know that he is enjoying Fiddler´s Green now.
