Robert Arthur "Bobby" Dowell Sr.

Robert "Bobby" Arthur Dowell Sr., age 74, from Bowling Green, Missouri, and a longtime resident of Metairie, Louisiana passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Marvin A. Dowell and Betty Shaw Dowell, and a brother Floyd Dowell. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Jan Barovechio Dowell, children, Jennifer Frisby, Robbie Dowell, Jr. (Heidi), Sean Dowell, and Katie Maras (Brandon), 11 grandchildren, one great-grandson, sister, Penny Gast, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends and his beloved dogs, Duke and Dakota. Bobby served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Vietnam War in 1968. He lived in New Orleans for over 40 years and worked in the electrical sales industry for over 20 years in the New Orleans metro area. He was an avid sports memorabilia collector. He loved watching the New Orleans Saints and LSU sports and gathering with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3601 Transcontinental Dr., Metairie, LA 70006, followed by a Funeral Mass @ 11:00 am. Inurnment will immediately follow in Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana 70124. In place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bobby's honor to K9s for Warriors or the Wounded Warrior Project.
