Robert Fleming Sr.

1953 - 2023

Robert was born August 23, 1953 in Natchez, Mississippi to the late Otis Fleming Sr. and Leola Jackson Fleming of Natchez, Mississippi which later moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. He was 1 of 10 children born to this union. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Roosevelt Johnson at St. Charles Baptist Church in Fenwick, Mississippi. Robert attended Booker T. Washington High School and went on to work at Lakeside Hospital as an electrician tech for many years. Robert married Sherrie Barquet and to this union one child was born Robert Lee Fleming Jr. and a stepson Earl Barquet. Robert was a long time member of Greater St. Andrew Baptist Church and later Greater St. Mary Baptist Church. He fought a good fight and on Monday December 4, 2023 he entered in eternal rest. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Otis Fleming Sr. and Leola Fleming; one sister, Debra Fleming and one brother, Michael Fleming. He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Robert Lee Fleming Jr. (Shalanda); three grandchildren, Robert Lee (Tre)Fleming III, Aiden, and Ayriana Harris of Washington State; one stepson, Earl Barquet; two brothers, Otis Fleming Jr. (Beaulah), Lorin Bruce Fleming Sr.; five sisters, Joyce McCall, Dorothy Fleming, Brenda (Joseph) Valdery, Lisa (Reginald Sr.) Thompson, and Shalanda (Thaddeus Sr.) Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Carrie and Ielva Lewis; and one brother-in-law Kendrick Lewis of new Orleans, Louisiana; and host of nephew, nieces, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Greater St. Andrew Baptist Church, 7000 Earhart Blvd. NOLA on Saturday December 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM, Visitation 10:00 AM.
