Phil 1:3. I have thanked God every time I have thought of Dr Sistrunk since the first day I met him at Baptist Hospital in 1965/66. I know I speak for every nursing student who had the honor of learning from him; he was a wonderful teacher and remarkable physician. I also had the privilege of knowing him as a fellow church member at First Baptist Church New Orleans. He was a good and faithful servant to the Church and to his Lord. All were blessed who had the good fortune of knowing him. Heaven is enhanced by his presence there.

My prayers of thanksgiving for this wonderful doctor and for the consolation of Gerry and the rest of his family. Dr. Sistrunk saved the lives of my mother and sister in 1965, delivered 2 more of my siblings and 3 of my children. Dr. Sistrunk was the best, most thorough physician I have ever had. I have tried to find a good one like him since I moved out of New Orleans but none have gotten anywhere close to his genuine care and professionalism. He will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in peace.

I would like to express my most sincere regrets to the family of Dr. Sistrunk for your loss. As his patient for many years having first met him in 1970 with the birth of my first daughter he went on to deliver my second daughter in 1972. I respected him very highly. A loving, kind, caring doctor. Always had a smile, a warm hand shake and called me by my first name. I've missed him dearly these last years after he moved his practice to Laplace. I will always remember him. How lucky you all were to have had him - thanks for sharing him with all of us.

April 21, 2016

Prayers for all of his family during this time. Dr. Sistrunk delivered 2 of my children. My daughter in 1959 & my son in 1960. He did whatever it took to delivery my babies safely. I just loved him and mostly trusted him to deliver my babies a live. I had problems but he made me feel safe in his care. Wonderful person and OB/GYN. R.I.P.

To the Sistrunk family, Dr.Sistrunk gave me a compliment in the 1960's while a new LPN at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, I'll never forget While doing a procedure on a patient he walked in the room and stated 'This is what I call nursing'He never knew how much that statment meant to me.May the peace of the Lord rest on you all.

My sincere sympathies to Dr. Sistrunk's Family. I met Dr. Sistrunk in 1968 with my first baby and was his patient until he retired in LaPlace. He was a wonderful doctor, kind and had a great sense of humor. No other like him. May he rest in peace.

Dr Sistrunk delivered my three children. My oldest son was born on a Saturday and my twins (boy & girl) were born on a Sunday. Even though I was a patient of Dr. Fred Brumfield, Dr Sistrunk gave up those two weekends with his family so that I could begin mine. I am forever grateful. My thoughts and prayers are with his loving family.

He was an awesome physician. I was sad when he retired but I was glad he would be able to spend time with the family he always spoke so lovingly of. I have not found any doctor who could come near to his professionalism, true interest in his patient, and is focused on the care rather than the dollar. RIP Dr. Sistrunk

April 20, 2016

I absolutely loved Dr Sistrunk. He delivered me 42 years ago and also delivered my siblings. Dr Sistrunk delivered my daughter almost 18 years ago and I was sad that he retired before I had my second child. My mother worshiped him and brought me to him at 18 and I was scared to death but he was wonderful and amazing. I haven't seen him since he retired but I think about him often. I'm very sad to hear this news. I'm so sorry for the family's loss. God has a wonderful new angel now.

I was so sorry to hear of Dr. Sistrunk's passing. I was so blessed to have him as a mentor when I joined the nursing staff in his office. Both he & his wife were excellent teachers. I remember his love for music. We would have music playing in the office and occasionally he would ask, "what is the name of that song? I really like it." My prayers are with Gerry and the family.

Dr. Sistrunk was my OB/GYN from 1965 until he retired. He was the best and most caring and wonderful doctor I ever had. After his retirement, I truly missed him and still have not been able to find a doctor to come anywhere close to his kindness and professionalism. God bless you, Dr. Sistrunk, may you rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Sistrunk family.

Dr. Sistrunk delivered my son Brad at 2 lbs- 9 oz, almost 26 years ago at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans. He and I were Brothers of Manresa together for over 13 years and he always asked about Brad. He was so happy that the 2lb-9 oz baby he delivered became a U.S. Marine! My thoughts and prayers are with the Sistrunk Family. Royce will truly be missed!

Back in the 60's when I needed an ob/gym nearly everyone I asked said "Dr. Sistrunk". What made him REALLY stand out, they urged, was his special ability with difficult births - newborns in grave distress. "You've got to have him
- he can save your baby's life!"
