Ronald C. DeRoche, Sr. retired New Orleans Police Officer, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Mary C. DeRoche by second marriage and of Muriel Fernandez by first marriage. Father of Ronald C. "Roo" DeRoche, Jr. (Jean), Rhonda DeRoche-Bordelon (Rodney), Mary Pearl DeRoche Bachelder (Robert), Lawrence E. DeRoche, and Christopher R. DeRoche. Son of the late Ivil and Lawrence DeRoche. Brother of Linda DeRoche Palmaisano, and the late Lawrence J. DeRoche, Jr. Grandfather of Kristen Bordelon Whiddon, Amanda, Trevor, and Jason Bordelon, Gabrielle, Patrick and Maximilian DeRoche. Great grandfather of Finley Whiddon. Uncle of Pamela DeRoche Lewis, Cindy Davis, and Eric D'Arguhart. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served his country honorably. He was a member of the New Orleans Fire Department from 1962-1964 at which time he was appointed to the New Orleans Police Department where he served for 25 1/2 years during which time he received numerous commendations. He also served as a court security officer with the U.S. Marshall's office from 1994 to present and was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Crescent City Lodge #2. He was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. Relatives and friends of the family, also members of Fraternal Order of Police Crescent City Lodge, #2, NOPD and NOFD are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 400 Verret St., Algiers, LA on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 11 am. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 am until 11 am. Interment will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hospice Compassus.
