Stanley Benoit Obituary

Stanley Paul Benoit, born November 2, 1949, passed from this life suddenly on September 29, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Mary Joan "Joanny" Abadie Benoit, his daughters Sharon Spell (Derrick) and Tara Sibert (Tom); his grandchildren Dylan Wagner (Kirsten), Caiden Wagner and bonus-grandchildren Kevin, Jason and Julia Spell; by in-laws Evelyn Olwell (Wayne), Franny Rigsby (Douglas) and Michael Abadie (Gwen), Aunts Sister Laura Ann Caire RSCJ, Sister Margaret Caire RSCJ and Sister "Lulu" Coto RSCJ, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Alphonse and Anna (Cullota) Benoit, brother Alphonse "Benny" Benoit (surviving spouse Pat), sister Mary Louise Benoit, and grandson Logan Wagner; as well as members of his wife's family, Seymour and Eloise Caire Abadie, Marsha Bell, Bruce Abadie (surviving spouse Mina) and John David Abadie. Stan proudly served on active duty in the United States Navy as an Engineman Second Class (EN2) during the Vietnam War. He also earned the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Navy Combat Action Ribbon. Stan was honorably discharged after serving over three years. Stan volunteered as a board member of the Kenner Naval Museum Commission for over a decade. He personally directed the restoration of the River Patrol Boat PBR-829 that remains on display at Veterans Park in Kenner. He was a mechanic by trade and by hobby, enjoying working on cars, boats and the occasional model airplanes. His work accomplishments of note through the years included employment by George Engine Company, ownership of Boson Diesel, Southeast Specialty, Turbine Specialties, Clear Choice and, most recently, Hose Guys. He and Joanny have owned an Amway business for over thirty years, with which many close friends have been made. He consulted for several other businesses through the years, and built his own education program to train others in diesel engines and in general life and business skills. Stan served his community on the board of Visitation of Our Lady School in Marrero where he raised his daughters; later served the Parish Council for St. Agnes Catholic Church, the parish of his childhood; and was at his passing a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Edgard. He enjoyed boating and fishing, working on old cars and painting art. He enjoyed time spent with various clubs and groups, including Pete Fountain's Half-Fast Walking Club, the Louisiana Film and Entertainment Association, Business Network International (BNI) and especially the Kenner Naval Museum Commission. A special Thank You to Vincent Caire, Jonathan Kernion and the employee family of Hose Guys. Dear Joanny, may Our Dear Father in Heaven take care of Stan now, and you too! ... and your children and family.

May our broken hearts bring us closer to each other and make the world a better place, something that Stan worked so hard to do.
