Stephen was a devoted musician and absolutely loved playing the Tuba. It was a pleasure playing with him, sharing stories, and understanding how devoted he was towards his family and friends. I'm sorry that I won't be able to play with him again though I know, somewhere, he is finding the time to be playing with the greats.

Eight years ago, I gave my mother a book entitled "Simply Living: The Beatitudes" as a Mother's Day present. And as I reread the nine beatitudes, I reflected on one in particular: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." I believe there is no doubt in anyone's mind that knew Stephen, knows that he had a pure heart and that he sees God along with Mom, Dad, Granny, Gramps, Maw Maw, Uncle Al, Mother Lillian, and all uncles, aunts, great uncles, and great aunts that passed before him. Thank you Stephen for the good you brought into this world.

Growing up as neighbors and friends, I will always remember Stephen as a gregarious, fun-loving, gentle soul. I was and remain deeply saddened by news of his passing. Rest in peace, my friend.
As I know well the pain of losing a baby brother, I say to my friends, the entire Marshall family, in the difficult days and weeks ahead, may God grant you comfort in your many memories of happier times with your loved one.
