Stephen Anthony Marshall

Stephen Anthony Marshall, Born on January 7, 1963, and departed this life on July 22, 2021, after a short illness at Tulane University Hospital. Stephen was born to the union of Nolan and June Epps Marshall. He was a lifelong resident of the city of New Orleans. Stephen attended St. Peter Claver Elementary School and graduated from John F. Kennedy Sr. High School in 1980. He also played football for 2 seasons at the University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Stephen was a devoted son and brother, strong willed and proud, humbled only by his love for the Lord. He had a fondness for big rigs, tanker trucks and was a licensed commercial driver (CDL), as well as a New Orleans Regional Transit Authority bus driver. He loved to drive and spent most of his adult life in that capacity. In his most recent past, he enjoyed moving citizens and tourists around the city as an independent contractor with Uber Technologies. Stephen had a lifelong interest and passion for music and was a long-time member of the New Orleans Concert Band where he held the position of tuba player extraordinaire. Stephen's family enjoyed many inspiring holiday concerts that he performed with his band in Orleans and Jefferson parishes. Stephen lived a full energetic life, with many interests, particularly his fondness for water, lakes, and streams which he took much comfort in being around. He was a weather enthusiast who found joy in tracking the paths of hurricanes and tornadoes while also appreciating the beauty of sunsets and watching the moon rise and eclipses. He always loved to share that knowledge with others as well. He also enjoyed perfecting his cooking skills and made great red beans and delicious hamburgers. He loved a good game of Monopoly, football games and wrestling matches and his love for his dogs was unmatched. Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Nolan A Marshall, and his mother, June Epps Marshall; his maternal grandparents, Harold and Alma LeCesne Epps, and his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Lillian Pazon; uncles Shedrick M. Marshall, Edward B. Epps, and Wayne Epps; and his aunt Grace Marshall Sigur. He is loved and will be missed by his 6 surviving siblings, Allison (Lauren) Marshall, Chris (Toni) Marshall, Nolan Marshall Jr., Cynthia Marshall (Lee) Roberts, Sylvia Marshall Vincent and Robyn Marshall (Al Jai) Wallace, his aunt Carmen D. Epps, Janice F LeCesne, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to say thank you to the doctors, nurses and administrative staff for the care administered to Stephen during his illness and the kindness extended to the family during that time. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, 2120 Jackson Avenue at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Deacon Lawrence Houston, Officiating.
