Thomas Edward Grinnen, Jr was born in New Orleans, LA on March 9, 1929 and died February 21, 2016 at his residence in Metairie, LA at age 86. Son of the late Thomas Edward Grinnen, Sr. and Louise Kammer Grinnen. Loving husband of Angela Leggio Grinnen for the past 64 years. Brother of Mary Grinnen Schott of New Orleans, LA. Father of Louise Grinnen Voelkel (Tom) of Lafayette, LA, Thomas Edward Grinnen III of Ponchatoula, LA Madalyn Grinnen Tranchina (Mike) of Mandeville, LA and John G. Grinnen of Metairie, LA. Grandfather of Lt. Colonel Greg ""Cord"" Voelkel (Kelly) USAF of Okinawa, Japan, Lauren Voelkel Brewer (Justin) of Prairieville, LA, Michael Tranchina of San Diego, CA and Marlena Tranchina of Mandeville, LA. Great grandfather of Alice Brewer and Chase Voelkel. Also survived by his nephews, Art, John, Jerry, Stephen, Chris and Richard Schott. Mr. Grinnen was a 1947 graduate of St. Aloysius High School in New Orleans, LA and a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Retired employee of South Central Bell Telephone Company where he was employed for 35 years. Past Executive Board Member and Chief Stewart for the Communication Workers of America. Lifetime member of the AT&T Telephone Pioneers and member of American Legion Post 175. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
