Thomas Clifford Jung

Thomas Clifford Jung, age 74, of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Tom was born in New Orleans, LA but grew up in Shreveport and graduated from Byrd High School. He returned to his beloved New Orleans to attend Tulane University where he pledged Sigma Nu. Tom taught himself to use a computer while working for a bank and became a pioneer in computer science programming which became his career and passion. He was also an accomplished pianist, musician, avid reader, and competitive bridge player. Tom was preceded in death by his father Melvin J.Jung, Jr. He is survived by mother Lucille M. Jung; siblings Lt. Commander (retired) Melvin J. Jung III (Gloria), Representative Polly Thomas (Dr. Bob), and Ellen Griffin; and nieces and nephews Kristina Jung West (David), Jennifer Thomas Phillips (Greg), Melvin J. Jung, IV (Audrey), Aimée K. Thomas (Shannon), Patrick J. Thomas (Tara), Melissa Griffin Mojica (Michael), and Rebecca Perales (Stevan). A memorial Mass for Tom will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by interment at Lake Lawn Park, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
