Wilbert Whitaker Jr.

Wilbert Whitaker, Jr. entered into eternal rest at West Jefferson Medical Center on Monday, November 28, 2022, at the age of 77. He was a native New Orleans, LA, a former resident of Bridge City, LA, and presently residing in Avondale, LA. Town, as he was affectionately known by family and friends was educated in the Jefferson Parish School System and was a retired store clerk of Overlastic and Hymel Grocery. Devoted son of the late Wilbert Whitaker and Leverne V. Whitaker. Stepson of Peter Garabald. Grandson of the late Ovide and Stella J. Pierre. Brother of Otis Ovide Whitaker, Alvin (Valarie) Garabald, Stella (Wallace) Pardo, Cora (Louis) Harkless, Angela (Dennis) Moore, Diana (Gerald) Davis, Debra Morman, Gladys (Virgil) Sorrels and the late Anthony Garabald, and Anna Stamps. Nephew of the late Doretha Williams, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Third Emanuel Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Third Emanuel Baptist Church 187 Third Emanuel St. Bridge City, LA on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 9:00a.m. Pastor Joseph C. Dyson, Sr. officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until 8:45a.m. at the above-named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA.
