William Allen White

WHITE Mr. William Allen White passed away on Monday, October 1, 2007. Mr. White was born in Edenton, North Carolina, October 28, 1920; he was the son of the late James Frank White, Sr. and Saintie Miller White. Survivors include one brother, Samuel P. White, Sr. and his wife, Dolly of Richmond, Virginia; two sisters: Saintie W. Hand of Alexis, North Carolina and Mary Eliza Wilkins and her husband, James of Suffolk, Virginia; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. White served in World War II in Germany and in occupation of Germany. He also served in the Foreign Service in Salzburg and Vienna, Austria and Florence, Italy for ten years. Returning to the U.S. he entered the antique business with Alvin B. Detwiler and Casey & Casey, Inc. on Royal Street in New Orleans, LA for 45 years. A private burial will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton, North Carolina. Memorial donations may be made to Edenton Baptist Church, 200 South Granville Street, Edenton, North Carolina 27932.
