I've finally found you Dr. Gray....to thank you, too late, for your generosity, levity and guidance into the field of dance performance. I've attached a photo from the work he created for The Assortment Dance Theater (ca. 1978) in which he performed. Rest in Peace Grant.

What an incredibly fun man. I was in Actor's Ensemble and the dance group with Wan Dang at De Anza back in 1987. Grant took us out for drinks quite often and we always had a ball and felt like a family together. I was too young to really appreciate what a fun scene it was and the friends I had made in that group. I would love to reconnect with that group again. God bless you Mr. Gray

Paula and Stephen I am very sorry for your loss. I loved your Daddy very much and he was very good to me I know that my Mother meant the world to him. I was so honored to see that one of your children had Mama's name. I would appreciate if one of you could get in touch with me. There are some items in your Father's house that would probably mean something to her namesake. You are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you and your families. I can be reached through Butch.

At PHHS in the early 60's he taught a generation of goofy (me at least) suburban kids, longing for imagination/inspiration/exhilaration excitement...a remarkable lesson; that art is a vehicle for all of those aspirations, and that making art requires extraordinary commitment, honesty and discipline. I haven't forgotten.
Thank you Mr Gray.

No one is mentioned more often in my life as an influence & mentor... he lit a fire in so many of his students. I left my own high school each day to take classes from him at PHHS, 62-64. How the arts flourished there under Winston Grant Gray & Bob Soder. How dear he has been in my memory. I just attended the 50th w/friends... & what did we talk about? Our many friends who have had sterling careers thru Winston's creative encouragement & drive. I'll never forget the twins charging around his house, the students always welcome, & the heights we hit thru applause. You taught us poetic text, but also the finest stagecraft. Thank you Dear Teacher. (you called me) spyder
I Love You Winston

I was in his dance class at PHHS from 1964 to 1967, my sister Pamela from 1962 to 1964.. It was a privilege and an honor to be selected and I and my sister felt like we won the greatest gift being in his presence. "Never leave your audience in the dark,". I am so sorry to hear of his passing, especially because I just found him on Facebook about a year ago. He was my drama teacher in 1963 and 1964 and had a profound impact on my life. I was very proud to know him. Mrs. Gray was my guidance counselor and I remember her, too. Lovely people.

What an impact this man had on our lives! In high school (Class of '61) I flunked Algebra and moved over into what I thought would be an easy class - drama. I've been an actor since. Mr. Gray was my first "teacher". He taught me how to live life and love it!

We met Winston in New Orleans years ago. We were on our way out of town and Winston said, "you can't leave..my birthday party's tonight!" We stayed and attended most ever since. In the last years, we were always greeted with that great smile of his! I was thankful for attending his last birthday party and to have played in his birthday second line!

I have known Winston for many years now. I will miss sitting with him and watching the old classic films on TCM. He was never short on witty and hilarious commentary. I was so happy to see him shine at his recent 82nd birthday celebration and Second Line Parade in the Quarter. Now he shines as one of the bright stars in the evening sky over his beloved City of New Orleans.

I was glad to know this man. He was full of life and always quick with a clever story. I am always touched by the number of people who said that Winston influenced their lives. His good friend Darrin set up a foundation to continue his lifelong passion of supporting the performing arts. Rest in Peace, Winston, your work goes on even yet.

Well, Winston you are surly missed. You altered the course of my life so many years ago, all for the better. I am sorry that we lost track of each other upon my graduation, but you should know that I followed your training for several years, dancing in many productions. Before heading in a direction that led me to science, I never left dance far behind. My best to you and your family, Dr. William Fox.

Grant was my professor at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA from September 1989 until he retired. I was a member of the Actor's Ensemble. He was my friend from that year and after. My friendship with Grant lasted 24 years. He will be remembered by those that loved him always. My condolences to his family and friends. Sincerely, Maxine Watson (aka Maxine Greco, an actor)

Dr. Gray taught me from 1963 to 1967 at Pleasant Hill High School Pleasant Hill, CA. And he directed many of the plays that i was in. He was a very talented artist and director in the stage arts. he was also very demanding. Often times behind his back, we called him W. God Gray. I pray that he will rest in peace. He was a lot of fun and I did learn a lot from him.
