Alice Hawks Obituary
She was born on November 20, 1908, in Cameron Township, Iowa, to Charles and Beatrice (Jordan) Boers. Alice was united in marriage to Fred Walker Hawks on August 1, 1930, in Davenport, Iowa. Fred passed away in September of 2003. Alice graduated from high school and went on to further her education graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She worked as a teacher in Exira, Iowa, for five years and as a bank loan officer in Council Bluffs, Iowa, for twenty-five years. Alice was a member of the Methodist Women, Joslyn Art Museum, the Omaha Symphony Guild and the Red Cross. She enjoyed spending her spare time reading, listening to music and doing needlework.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters; and three brothers.
Alice is survived by a daughter, Nancy Larsen of Arnolds Park; son, Dexter Hawks of Kent, Conn.; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. Burial will be at the Exira Cemetery. Memorials may be given in Alice's name to the Alzheimer's Association. The Schuchert Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
