Darrell Heath

1932 - 2022

Darrell L. Heath, age 90, of Council Bluffs, passed away May 19, 2022 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Darrell was born March 10, 1932 in Council Bluffs to the late Lloyd and Carrie (Jurgens) Heath. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1951 where he was a member of the ROTC and an Eagle Scout. Darrell joined the US Air Force right after graduation serving two years and then nine years in the Air Force Reserve stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. Darrell married Alice Schade on August 25, 1956. They were blessed with two sons, Dennis and Brian. Darrell worked in the construction business from 1955-1985. He then went to work for Lewis Central Schools from 1985-1996. Darrell was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his sister -in-law and brother-in-law, Helen Schade Shupe and Russell Shupe; brother-in-law, Donald Schade; niece, Deborah Shupe Schmitz; nephew, Steve Schade. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Alice Schade Heath; sons, Dennis (Carol) Heath, Brian (Annette) Heath; granddaughters, Megan (Justin) Steimer, Kara (Cody) Willis, Allison (Luke) Meyer, Erin Heath, and grandson, Jacob Heath; great granddaughters, Cecily and Cora Steimer, Piper and Bailey Willis and great grandson, Garrett Willis; sister-in-law, Betty Schade; nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family, Friday, June 3, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Inurnment, Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 1 p.m. in the Neola, Iowa Township Cemetery. Military rites will be tendered by the Neola American Legion Post #330 assisted by the Offutt AFB Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.
