Pamela Hunt Obituary

Pamela Sue (Underwood) Hunt

November 5, 1962 - June 20, 2025

Pamela Sue (Underwood) Hunt, age 62, of Council Bluffs, passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Pam was born on November 5, 1962, in Council Bluffs, to the late Jerry and Donna Underwood.

She was united in marriage to Randy Hunt on July 6, 1985, and they shared 40 wonderful years together.

In addition to her parents, Pam was preceded in death by her sister, Theresa Williams; mother-in-law, Bonnie Hunt; and father-in-law, Clarence (Cack) Hunt.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Hunt; children, Abby (Mike) Showers, Nick (Jill) Hunt, Jamie (Tyler) Hansen, Amanda Hunt; eight grandchildren; siblings, Jerry (Andrea) Underwood, Steve (Sandy Quist) Underwood, Dan (Debbie) Underwood; many nieces and nephews; and her childhood best friend, Debbie Van Wey.

Her working career began as a physical therapy assistant for 20 years at Jennie Edmundson Hospital where she enjoyed helping others and developing lifelong friendships. Once her children became school aged, Pam found it best to transition to a job that allowed her to spend more time with her children. This is when Pam became the health associate at Rue Elementary in Council Bluffs, for the past 30 years. Throughout those 30 years she touched many children's lives and built many friendships with colleagues.

Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. She found deep happiness in spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were her proudest accomplishments and center of her world. Pam was known for her kind heart and thoughtful wisdom, she was the one people turned to for advice, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.

She had a gift for making everyone feel at home. She loved cooking and hosting, and her kitchen was always open to friends and family. Nothing made her happier than sharing a good meal and good company.

Pam enjoyed soaking up the sun and spending time by the pool or at the beach, the places where she felt relaxed and at peace.

In her final eight months, she showed remarkable courage and resilience as she battled esophageal cancer, never losing her warmth or love for those around her.

Visitation, Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., with funeral service to begin at 12 p.m., at Cutler O'Neill Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at Eastside Christian Church, 331 Bennett Avenue in Council Bluffs.
