Alfred Rosenfelder Obituary

ROSENFELDER
Alfred S., age 96, passed away peacefully January 19, 2013 surrounded by his loving family and dear friends at Van Dyk Manor in Ridgewood.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Alfred graduated from Lane Technical School and LaSalle Extension University School of Accounting. He began his distinguished 50-year career in the insurance industry at Country Life in Chicago, where he met his wife, Marguerite. He went on to eventually become the Executive Vice-President and a Director of New Jersey Life Company and its subsidiaries.
He served in the Army both in WWII and the Korean War, achieved the rank of Captain, and was awarded two Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts.
In 1954, he moved his family to Ho-Ho-Kus and resided in this community until his move to Van Dyk Manor in 2011.
Early on, he enjoyed bowling, golf, and became an avid bridge player. He was a member of Hobbyists Unlimited, Ho-Ho-Kus Community Church and Society of The Valley Hospital. His three passions were researching the Rosenfelder Family's genealogy, collecting antique pressing irons, and entertaining family and friends at his vacation home, "The Farm", in Vermont. He touched the lives of so many people and will be greatly missed by all.
Alfred was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Chinery and husband Gary, eight nieces and nephews, and 12 grand- nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 3-5:30 PM at C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home, 306 East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Ambulance Corps would be appreciated.
