Anthony Capelli Obituary
Anthony J. "Tony", 73, of East Rutherford for 38 years and formerly of Jersey City, passed away on January 19, 2017. For 28 years, he was a police officer in the Borough of East Rutherford, retiring in 2004. Prior to that, he was a barber in Jersey City then became the proprietor of Mr. Anthony's, a barber shop in East Rutherford, for three years. Mr. Capelli was a member of the East Rutherford P.B.A. Local 275 and the Honor Legion. He was a traffic officer, instructor at the police academy and former D.A.R.E. Officer. Tony was a founder of the East Rutherford Neighborhood Watch Program and founder of the East Rutherford National Night Out. He was an avid billiards player. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Ciarkowski) Capelli. Loving father of Christine Ann Rotondo and her husband Michael and Courtney Rose Calacione and her husband David. Cherished grandfather of Anthony and Valerie. Dear brother of Paul Capelli and his wife Annamarie. Caring uncle of many nieces and nephews. Funeral departing from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad Street, Carlstadt on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 9:00 AM for a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, East Rutherford at 9:30 AM. Cremation East Ridgelawn Crematory, Clifton. Visitation Sunday 1-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little People of America-Garden State Chapter, 14 Allen Street, Rumson, NJ 07760.

Ever since my father's job change took our family to Pennsylvania and away from Booream Ave., I have thought of Anthony as the best friend I ever had. Only now, embarrassingly late, have I learned of his passing. My most sincere condolences to his family , especially his brother Paul. Anthony must have been a great husband, father, and cop. His friendship will always be an inspiration to me.

So sad to hear about Tony's passing. I'm glad I was able to visit when I came up to NJ in June. Always had nice talks with Tony and Pat. Pat took me to register for college and Tony always had something funny or silly to say. Always smiling. I know he will be missed by everyone in town.
