Doris E. Tobin (née Hanson), age 92, of Dumont, NJ, entered into eternal rest Monday, January 29, 2018. Born in Jersey City to the late Hilda (née Baer) and Frank Hanson, she was the beloved wife of the late William T. Tobin (Retired Dumont Police Chief), devoted mother of John W. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Candice, Michael, Carly, Kenneth, Justin, Tara, Jon and Tracey, and her cherished great grandson, Lucas. She was the dear aunt of Bruce Hanson, loving sister-in-law of Mary Hanson. Loving cousin to Joan Hanson, and loving sister of the late Frank and John Hanson..

Doris was a Dumont resident for more than 80 years, and was a jewelry saleswoman at A & S, now Macy's in Paramus. She had the distinction of being the top saleswoman in the U.S. for the Monet jewelry line. She was also a model for the Florence Shop in Bergenfield. She was a devout member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dumont, and in her younger years was a member of the Luther League, and taught Sunday School proudly for many years.

The Rev. Peggy Hayes will officiate at the religious service, Friday 11 AM at the Frech-McKnight Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont. Interment Woodside Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4-8 PM. The world is a little smaller and a little darker. Doris has joined Bill in Heaven. Bill was a soft spoken and gentle person. He was truly focused on his family and their happiness. You knew that Bill could rise to the occasion if need be. Doris complemented him in every way. She was the cheerful, out-going, and loving person. You knew when you saw them together they were born for each other. I have to spend this short moment in time to thank them both for the guidance and wisdom they gave me as a young boy. May you enjoy the true peace and happiness of Heaven together, forever. Michael

Doris was a wonderful woman who served The Lord throughout her long life. I was privileged to serve her and her family with Aid Association For Lutherans (AAL) 1986-2002. May The Lord bless her loved ones with the assurance that she has eternal life through Christ and that they will also.
