Edward Grobe Obituary

GROBE Edward M., 64, passed away unexpectedly on April 8, 2009 at his home in Yorba Linda, California. Born in Newark to Seymour and Helen (Estrin) Grobe, he spent his childhood in Maplewood and graduated from Columbia High School.After serving in the US Army, he earned a bachelor's degree from Montclair State University and a master's degree in Administration and Supervision from William Paterson University. He spent his entire 40 year teaching and administrative career in Wayne Township Public Schools where he was Chair of the Busine-ss/Technical Education/Home Economics departments at Wayne Valley High School. He was a much-loved teacher and administrator who always had soft eyes, a booming voice, and a golden heart. Wayne Valley won't quite be the same without his laughter and inspiration.He is survived by his wife Rona Karney and their son Scott Karney-Grobe, and daughter Stacy Grobe from a previous marriage; brothers Cary and his wife Sydelle, Ronald and his wife Shelley, sister-in-law Shari Karney, several nieces and nephews and numerous friends and colleagues. Funeral services were held in California on April 13. Prior to the last performance on Saturday evening May 16th, the Wayne Valley Student Dance Association will dedicate the show in Ed's memory. There will be a memorial service held on Sunday, May 17th 2:30 pm at Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel, 432 Scotland Road, South Orange.For those who wish to contribute to a memorial scholarship, donations should be made payable to: Wayne Valley High School c/o Amy Giordano, 551 Valley Road, Wayne, NJ 07470. Please specify that the donation is intended for the Ed Grobe Scholarship.Local arrangements by Moores Home For Funerals, 1591 Alps Rd, Wayne, NJ.
