Mr. Lockke was also my favorite 6th grade teacher. I remember him bringing in antiques that he would have us write stories about and at the end of the week he would tell us what the object really was. He was someone the students could talk to and he had a wonderful sense of humor about himself. Mr. Lockke you are truly loved and missed.

Mr. Loccke's passing is a huge loss for anyone who ever had the pleasure of having him as a teacher. As a 6th grade student in 1980, he first appeared about 10 feet tall, which kept my attention, and then his calm and stoic demeanor held it for an entire year. His teaching was second to none and his stories about life, friends, and all the things a 6th grader needed to know to succeed were everlasting. There are plenty of people who I can say great things about, but this man set the standard for me in how a man is measured. I am priveleged to have known him and forever grateful for his influence in my life. There is no doubt that a great man has exited this life to dwell in the house of God. From my family to yours, may you rest in peace and may your family find happiness in all the good you have shared while you lived.

If anyone could inspire a 12-year-old, it was Ed Loccke. He inspired me 38 years ago and I will never forget it.

Some of my favorite and most treasured memories that I can recall from when I was younger were from Mr. Loccke's 6th grade class. I was fortunate enough to know and learn from this incredible human being that touched the lives of so many people in all facets of life. I will never forget the geography game we played in his class! He will be missed dearly, may he rest in peace.

I was privelaged enough to have him for both 5th and 6th grade. A teacher I will always remember forever. Influenced me in so many ways. He gave me confidence in many things I did, and I still think about the many things he told me to this day.

I was very saddened to hear of Mr. Loccke’s passing. I was in his 6th grade math class at Windsor Middle School (86-87), and he’s one of the reasons I grew to love the subject, and eventually pursue a degree in Math, establishing a career in the field. I was always a good student, but Mr. Loccke simply brought out the best in me, as he did with all of his students. I distinctly remember always looking forward to his class, and the wit, humor, and passion with which he approached every lesson. He was loved by all, and was a true role model. Even now, some 23 years later, he’s one of the few teachers who stand out so clearly in my memory, one who I will never forget. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Loccke and family. May they take comfort in knowing how profoundly Mr. Loccke touched the lives of so many students.

Mr. Loccke is a teacher I still think about to this day, 12 years after I was a student of his. His classroom was more like another home, he guided each and every one of us every day. He commanded respect but was able to laugh with us all of the time while teaching. My older brother and I even made him hieroglyphics in pie tins when we were younger. He used to tell me I would be a teacher when I was older, and I wish I could tell him that even though I resisted back then, I am currently in my first year as a 5th grade teacher and couldn't imagine doing anything other than this. Thank you, Mr. Loccke.

Mr Loccke was my 6th grade teacher and the best teacher I've ever had. A few weeks ago someone asked me "was there a teacher that you had that influenced you to teach?"...my answer was simple: Mr. Loccke. I've been a teacher now for 9 years and my teaching style is based on his. I had the pleasure of being at a workshop with him the year before he retired. I'm thankful that I was given the opportunity to tell him what an impact he had on my life...he actually teared up. My heart and prayers go out to his family. He will be greatly missed.

I was so sad to hear about Mr. Loccke's passing. He was an unbelievable teacher who had such a warm, funny personality. He inspired me to teach the way that I do. Over 20 years later, I still remember the projects that I did in his class. He truly touched so many kids and inspired them to be not only better students, but better people. May he rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Loccke and the rest of his family. Mr. Loccke knew how to "reach" all of his students and keep us interested in the subject matter. It was the day to day "jokes" that always kept the subject matter light and interesting. He was an icon in Windsor (Greta Ostrowski) Middle School who will be sadly missed. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Loccke was not only a teacher to me. He was a friend, a mentor, and someone I could go to when I needed to just talk or vent about something. He was by far the best teacher I have ever had. There are so many stories I could share with his loved ones but this is by far my favorite. In 6th grade I gave him a spider plant. He told me that everything in this classroom doesn’t survive the year. So another classmate and I helped him take care of the spider plant all year. We had a time during the day that we watered the plant. When the year had ended we bragged to him how the plant had survived. Every year before he retired I would go back to visit him either after school or during a free period to see how he was and our plant. I was probably the happiest person in the school when he started substituting. I just happened to pass a classroom and I saw him and ran in to say hi. He was such a caring, patient, amazing person. He definitely helped me through some tough times in my life, especially in 6th grade. He will be forever in my heart. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and anyone who was blessed enough to know him.

Thirty-eight years has passed since 6th grade and I still speak of Mr. Loccke with the utmost affection and highest regard. Just recently, as a matter of fact, with friends I reconnected with on FaceBook. One of my fondest memories is why I began watching NFL Football on Sundays: so as not to feel left out when we spent 20 minutes of Monday "Current Events" discussing the highlights of the previous day's games. If I recall correctly, we got extra credit for knowing the Cleveland Browns' scores.

Mr. Loccke was one of the reasons I decided to become a teacher. I always felt he believed in me for an any other teacher I ever had. He will be sorely missed but I know his spirit lives on in all the kids lives he touched. I know even the disruptive kids would not give him problems because they knew he really cared about them. He made subjects I disliked fun and exciting. God bless you Mr. Loccke...you were one of the greatest teachers ever

Mr. Loccke was a great man and teacher. He inspired me and several of my friends to be the teachers that we are today. He had a great sense of humor. I can still remember specific jokes he made. Both my brother and I were lucky to have him as a teacher. My condolences go out to Mrs. Loccke who was also an inspirational teacher in the Wood-Ridge school district. May she find peace knowing how many people's lives Mr. Loccke touched.

Mr. Loccke was a really good man, I was very close to him the two years that he was my teacher. Every morning before school would start he would tutor me and help me with any problems that I had. He was always really kind and very patient (which helped me alot because I am not the best at math). It is a shame that he passed away; I will always remember him as possibly the best teacher I had.

Ed Loccke was a model teacher. His students absolutely adored him! I had the honor to call myself a colleague of Ed's, and I consider myself so fortunate to watch a man who was so sweet and respectful of the children he worked with. He held high expectations for his students, and did everything that the could to help them reach those goals.

God has added a great staff member!

Truly a teacher of honor and respect for all! One that stood out not only for his strengths in teaching, but his compassion to do so as well as encourage his students to think freely...no answer was wrong....A man who chose to help each discover their own self worth, esteem and respect and believed we all had the power to succeed in anything we desired! A teacher I have talked about for all my years. I have shared stories to my children, and have reminisced for years with many fellow students! He was a man who touched my heart and so many around him. My favorite teacher, hands down. It was an honor to have him as a teacher in the 6th grade. Praying for strength to his family and friends! We will surely be missed! JoAnn Castle '1984
