Edward Madden Obituary

MADDEN - Edward, Police Officer, an 18 year veteran of the Jersey City Police Department, was a highly dedicated officer who put his life on the line to protect others from harm. Officer Madden received numerous commendations and excellent police service awards for his heroism. Upon completion of the Police Academy, Edward Madden was assigned to the Patrol Division, first in the South District and then in the East District. Police Officer Madden was later reassigned to his last command in the Scofflaw Warrants Unit of the Jersey City Police Department. Members of the Jersey City Police Department and the citizens of Jersey City mourn the loss of a dedicated and respected officer. Officer Madden was one of a few crime stoppers in the nation certified to use forensic hypnosis for law enforcement applications. In addition to serving the citizens of Jersey City Officer Madden performed as a comedic stage hypnotist at nightclubs, benefits and universities. He wowed audiences in Las Vegas, at Shea Stadium and on Z-100 Radio. Edward Madden, age 48, of Rutherford, died Thursday, February 9, 2006. He was a devoted husband to Michele Madden. He was a loving father to Edward, Victoria, Jack and Jesse. He is the son of the late Edward Madden and the brother of the late Jack Madden. He is also survived by his Mother Jane Madden Cole, his sister Deborah Louf, his brothers Joseph Madden, James Madden, his father in law, Thomas DiNardo Sr., his mother in law Barbara DiNardo, his brother in laws Tom DiNardo, retired Jersey City Police Lt. Michael Louf and his niece Jersey City Police Officer Jane Louf. Friends will be received Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford, NJ 07070. Funeral Mass 9:30 AM St. Mary's Church, Rutherford. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
