George Merdo Obituary
George, 85, of Clifton passed away on November 2, 2011. Born in Jersey City he lived there before moving to Clifton in 1963. A parishioner of St. John Kanty R.C. Church, Clifton, George was an Installer for New York Telephone in NYC for 40 years, retiring 23 years ago. George was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. Beloved husband for 58 years of Eleanor (Ludwinski). Devoted father of Janice Meade and her husband Kevin of Clifton. Gregory of Pompton Lakes and Gerard of Totowa. Loving grandfather of Diane Meade of Boston. Dear brother of the late John, Elizabeth and Michael Merdo. Funeral Saturday 8 AM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 9 AM at St. John Kanty R.C. Church, Clifton. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visiting Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations made to either St. John Kanty R.C. Church, 49 Speer Ave., Clifton, NJ 07013, or the Dept. for Persons with Disabilities, 1 Catholic Charities Way, P.O. Box 2539, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438, in George's memory, would be greatly appreciated.
