A former parishioner of St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton, Gerard was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan, and enjoyed watching figure skating.
Beloved son of the late George and Eleanor Merdo. Devoted brother of Janice Meade and her husband Kevin, and Gregory Merdo. Loving uncle of Diane Golabek and her husband Andrew. Cherished great uncle of Anderson, Bennett and Carter.
Visiting Thursday, January 29, 2026, 4-8 PM at the Shook Funeral Home, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral Friday, January 30, 2026, 8:45 AM at the funeral home and 10 AM at St. John Kanty RC Church, Clifton. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
