Gerald Schraub Obituary

SCHRAUB
Gerald, 74, of Glen Rock, died on September 23.
Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he was raised in Brooklyn, NY, graduated from Brooklyn Talmudic Academy and then City College of New York, where he received a B.S. degree in Mathematics. He later completed a B.S. in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University, NJ.
Gerald, Jerry to all who knew him, enjoyed over a 40 year career in the computer field as a systems analyst, working on various platforms and diversified software systems including financial, communication, voice technology and switching systems. He enjoyed many past times including the NY Times and its crossword puzzles, the game of bridge, achieving the level of Bronze Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League and a board member of the local Unit 106 of the ACBL, gardening, hiking the White Mountains of NH, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Parks, Harriman State Park, and Saddle River County Parks, world travel especially to his beloved Israel, and family life. He was a member of Temple Israel and JCC, Ridgewood, NJ, where he held board positions in various areas of Temple life, was a leader in all things ritual and an accomplished Torah reader.
He was a resident of Glen Rock for 41 years. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marion, nee Kearney), children Deborah Crisp and husband Matthew of Hillsborough, California, and Jessica Norman and husband Maxwell of Los Angeles, California, and a sister Helen Krane, and grandchildren Vincent, Vanessa, and Nicholas Crisp, and Jonah and Andrew Norman, and nieces, nephews ,and grand-nieces, and grand-nephew. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren, and received much joy from them. Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements were by Schoem's Menorah Chapel, Paramus.
