Jacob Vargish Obituary
Dr. Jacob J., died April 13, 2015 at home in Tequesta, Florida. He was 98 years old. From 1946 until 1986, Dr. Vargish practiced Family Medicine in River Edge, NJ with his spouse, the late Dr. Hildegard S Vargish.
He was a graduate of the University of Michigan and received his Medical Degree from Long Island College of Medicine (SUNY Downstate) in Brooklyn, N.Y. He did his Internship at Kings County Hospital and then served in the US Navy during WWII and again during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Staff at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ, until his retirement.
He is survived by his companion, Mrs. Esther Votos, his son, Dr. Thomas Vargish, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter, Jolyn Vargish Rosenthal.
No memorial service is planned.

Dr. Vargish was my doctor when I was growing up over 70 years ago. I will always remember him as an outstanding doctor and friend. My deepest sympathies to his family.

We were saddened to hear that Jack passed away. Our memories are happy ones having spent many July 4th holidays with Jack and Esther on their balcony in Fort Lee and many dinners together. Upon Jack's retirement he handed us a new business card noting "Gentleman at Leisure." Our memories are many and fond. With deepest sympathy.
