Joan Comiskey Obituary

COMISKEY Joan Frances (nee Hantson), age 72, died on Monday, October 13, 2008. Born in Paterson, NJ, she was a lifelong resident of Midland Park until moving to Pine Island 7 years ago. She was a elementary school teacher at St. Brendans School in Clifton until she retired, and was an active member of the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River. Joan is survived by her Daughter Eileen Witte and her husband Robert of Pine Island, NY, her son Timothy and his wife Jennifer of Warwick NY and four grandchildren, Shannon, T.J., Aislinn, and Eamon. She is also survived by her brothers Donald and Richard Hantson both of FL, Thomas and Michael Hantson both of Oak Ridge, NJ and her sister Patricia of Warwick, NY. Joan was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1995. Visiting hours are Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ www.vpfh.com. Prayers will begin on Friday at the funeral home at 10:30 AM with a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at Church of the Presentation, 271 W. Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, NJ. Interment will follow at the Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. Memorial Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society Bergen Unit, 20 Mercer St., Hackensack, NJ 07601, or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX, 75265-0309.

Joan and I graduated from the same high school,Pope Pius XII , in 1953 and have kept in touch for many years. I will always remember her as a very sweet and kind person. I will remember her in my prayers. To her family, please accept my sincere condolences and be assured that she is with God in peace and free of pain.
