John (Jack) Burns

Tenafly - John (Jack) Burns of Tenafly, NJ passed away on February 6, 2021. Jack lived a life of service. Jack was a graduate of St. Cecilia's High School and Mercy College. After high school, he joined the United States Army where he served in Hawaii. Upon leaving the Army, he joined the Englewood Fire Department where he served for 30 years, ultimately achieving the rank of Captain. Jack was a lover of golf and accomplished at the game. He was an avid fan of horse racing. Preceded in death by his loving companion of 50 years, Doris MacConnell. Caring brother to the late Michael Burns & wife Carol of Totowa, the late Patty Baroch of Creskill, Irene Metzner & husband Charles of Allentown, PA, Frank Burns & his wife Mary Ellen of River Edge, Thomas Burns & his wife Virginia of New Milford. Adored Uncle to the late Colleen, Rich (Ashley), Steven, Michael (Lisa), Kristen (Brian), Brian, Jane, Tim (Erin), Tommy (Kaitlin), Kevin(Michelle) as well as several great-nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service at George Washington Cemetery Wednesday, February 10th at 11:00.

Jack you were a great guy. Knew you and your family since my early days in Englewood with coming into my Dad's Deli and later in life at the track. We lost a good man that will be missed. Respectfully, Michael WASSUTA and family
