Juanita Hernandez Obituary

Juanita Hernandez (nee Soto), 72, passed away in Belleville on Oct. 18, 2011.

Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, she lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Belleville, before moving to Bloomfield 19 years ago. She was a graduate of Superior Career Institute in New York City and became a Certified Nurse's Aide. She was employed by Bayada Nurses in Bloomfield.

She was a devout Catholic who cared for the needs of others; she was thought of as everyone's grandmother. She took great pleasure in cooking daily meals for her entire family.

She was the wife of Juan Hernandez; the mother of Nilsa Colon, James Burgos and Alex Hernandez; the sister of Amelia Reyes, Luz Castillo, Oscar Soto and the late Isaura Mercado; grandmother of Norma, Christina, David and James Jr. and great grandmother of four.

A funeral Mass was to be offered at Our Lady of Good Council, R.C. Church in Newark on Monday morning, Oct. 24. Interment was to be in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Guests were to be received at The Irvine-Cozzarelli Memorial Home, 276 Washington Ave. in Belleville on Sunday, Oct. 23.
