WOETZEL
Kurt H., age 87, of Waldwick, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 29, 2015. Born in Milwaukee, WI, February 28, 1928, Kurt grew up in the Wortendyke section of Midland Park and settled in Waldwick with his wife Odette where they raised their family. Most recently he lived in Cedar Crest Village in Pequannock.
Kurt served his country proudly in the United States Navy aboard the USS Barton DD-722. Following the Navy he began his 50 year career in the Hydronics Industry. During that time he was chief engineer for Federal Boiler Company in Midland Park and retired from Crown Boiler Company in 2003 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He was a member of the Hydronics Institute of America and served on the board of Boilers Manufacturers Marketing Committee. He was a lifelong member and past president of the Waldwick Lions Club.
Surviving is his loving wife of 62 years, Odette (nee deMauriac), his devoted children, Kurt and his wife Tina, Ken and his wife Lee Ann, Keith and his wife Colleen and Susan and her husband Neil Goldschrafe. He also leaves his 8 adoring Grandchildren, Kellie, Anne, Chelsea, Alexa, Kasey, Tori, John and Keith and six great-grandchildren. Kurt was pre-deceased by his brother Frederick and sister Hilda Gander.
An avid sports enthusiast in Bowling, Skiing, Snowmobiling, Golf, Ice Skating both racing and figure, swimming and water skiing. Kurt loved spending time with his family at his vacation home in the Adirondacks.
The Woetzel family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Kurt's memory may be made to the Christian Health Care Center Employees Fund, 301 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff or the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.

I am so sorry for your loss. Always liked Kurt. So happy to of had a conversation with him at Aunt Betty's funeral. He got me up to date on everyone, himself, his family and his wife. Always enjoyed Thanksgiving back in the days when EVERYONE was there at the Woetzel house in Midland Park. Fun times! Kurt will always live in my memories. Vicki Curtis Zappulla
