DEVITT
Michael C., age 54, of New Milford, died Thursday, July 17, 2014. Michael was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Wyckoff before moving to New Milford to live with his sister, Eileen. He was formerly employed by J & R Cigars of Paramus as a sales representative. He loved fishing, photography, restoring antique clocks and eating at diners. Michael is survived by his sisters, Eileen Kelley and Kathleen (Richard) Garland of Carmel, IN and his brothers, John Devitt of Brooklyn, NY and Kevin (Judy) Devitt of Allendale who is his fraternal twin brother. Also surviving are Michael's nieces and nephews, Patrick Devitt, Christopher Garland, Shannon Knobel, Raymond Henderson, John Kelley and Cecilia McKenney. Michael will be dearly missed by his cousins, Rose Marie Corpolongo, Thomas and Matthew Grennan, Neil Lucey, Patricia Ludwig, Berenice Meehan, Margaret Mary Nantel, Mary Smith and Geraldine Tanajewski. Rev. Justin Matro, OSB, a friend of Michael and Kevin's from childhood, will officiate at his Funeral Mass. Michael was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Kathleen (nee Grennan) Devitt, his two brothers, Patrick and Thomas Devitt and a niece Noreen Henderson. Visiting will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, 10 AM at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432. The interment will follow in Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Michael's memory to St. Bartholomew R.C. Church, P.O. Box A, Crabtree, PA 15624.
