Dick's professional background was without question of the highest regard. But, what made Dick special was his friendship, which was a throwback to a bygone era. A time when your word was your bond, a handshake meant everything and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for a friend. I was privileged that I think he would have called me his friend. I will truly miss (Jack - inside joke) him.
My condolences to everyone who called him friend and will miss him, but especially to Lois, Leanne, Jane and all his family.

I will always remember Dick as a friend and dedicated professional who was always there for you in times of need. His name often comes up at law enforcement functions in the New York area and is highly rergarded. We are truly saddened by this news and will always have fond memories of Dick. Our condolences to the Callahan family. John Cuff (USMS)

Dick Callaghan served as President of the New Mexico Chapter of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO) for a record 9 years, and was awarded the position of President Emeritus upon his retirement from that position. Many do not know that, in addition to his long and distinguished service in law enforcement, he played an active role in Intelligence for many years. His professionalism, integrity, breadth of experience, and sense of humor, combined to make him a great leader and a good friend, and he will be sorely missed. The Chapter extends heartfelt sympathies to his wife and family.
