Robert Bowitz Obituary

Robert P. Bowitz, Sr.

Robert P. Bowitz, Sr. died peacefully in his sleep on March 16, 2021 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Ywaski), daughter Linda and husband Dana "Tex" Walker, son Robert and wife Ann, grandchildren Wayne, Jennifer and Amber, brother Richard, nieces Gail Bowitz, and Kim and husband Gregg Emanuel, great nephews, Richard, Matthew and Michael and a large extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

Bob was born in Oakland, NJ in 1933 and spent his childhood living in a log cabin and swimming in the Ramapo River. He moved to Navarre, Florida in 2018 to spend time with his children.

Bob had been self-employed for most of his life. He was owner/operator of Willowbend Trucking and had a small business welding, working on boat engines and being an all-around fix it guy. Bob served in the New Jersey National Guard for 10 years and he was a Charter and Life Member of the Oakland Elks Lodge #2167. Throughout his life Bob enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, motorcycles, golfing and playing poker and bingo with the family on Saturday nights.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Oakland, NJ at some time in the future.

Donations in his memory can be sent to Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc., 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland, NJ 07436.
