Robert H. Conod

Robert H. Conod (Red), formerly of Paramus and Fair Lawn, NJ, passed away on April 8, 2018. The son of Henry and Alice (Hourtoule) Conod, Robert was born on May 11, 1934 in Jersey City, NJ.

Robert graduated from Ridgefield Park High School in 1951 where he played football when they won the 1950 State Championship. He attended Blair Academy in 1951 - 1952 and served in the US Navy 1953 - 1955. He played fast pitch softball in the Bergen and Passaic County leagues. He was a season ticket holder and lifelong fan of the NY Giants and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was also the baseball, basketball, football and bowling coach to his children.

Robert married Nancy Jenkins on April 10, 1965 in Fair Lawn, NJ; they lived in Fair Lawn until they retired to Sparrowbush, NY in 1992. Robert was a letter carrier for the USPO in Paramus, NJ for 34 years.

He is survived by his wife and their children Kevin, Keith, Stacey, and grandchildren Jennifer, Christopher and Mackenzie.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

So sorry to hear about Red. He, Danny, Herbie, Artie and me were great friends all thru high school. We played all sports together. He didn't have a mean bone in his body except on the football field. Your children should know what a great athlete and person he was. Quiet and someone who was a very nice part of my life.
