W. Vasios Obituary

VASIOS W. George, age 89 of Whiting, died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Homer Township, Michigan, George lived most of his life in Hackensack before moving to Whiting in 1983. He worked as a Salesman for Jersey Printing and then retiring from Printing Arts in Hackensack. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a member of The American Legion Post #55 in Hackensack. He was past Deacon and Elder at Second Reformed Church in Hackensack. George enjoyed High School and college sports so much that he volunteered to be a scout for all sports at Muhlenberg College, for which he was awarded the Alumni Achievement Award. He volunteered for Dial-A-Ride, taught yoga and played bocce in Crestwood Village VI. George was pre-deceased by two sisters; Evelyn and Helen. Surviving are his wife Erna, of sixty-seven years, a son George and his wife Claire of Brookline, MA, a daughter Kristine Vasios of Brookline, MA and a brother Harold of Hackensack. Also surviving are, a grandchildren Alexa and many other loving relatives. Visiting hours will be Sunday, from 1-4 PM and Monday, 9-10AM at The Family Owned Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Lacey Road Whiting, NJ 08759. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, 12 PM at Second Reformed Church, Hackensack. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
