Carl Albert Cohrs, 89, born May 9, 1936, passed peacefully into his eternal home on Feb. 24, 2026, at Toledo Hospital, with the love of his life by his side.
On Sept. 4, 1993, he married Donna (Prigge) Seemann, gaining an instant family and a lifetime of love and memories. For the past 32 years, Carl and his wife cherished every moment spent together, especially supporting their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They rarely missed a sporting event or 4-H activity, always present in the stands and proudly cheering them on as their biggest supporters.
Carl was a graduate of Deshler High School in 1954; and served in the United States Army for two years in France. He was a professional painter with Nordon's painting, Deshler, Ohio.
When Carl wasn't painting perfect trim lines, he could be found enjoying the outdoors - fishing and traveling with his wife, Donna. However, his greatest joy was riding his Farmall tractors. He took immense pride in sharing his love of farming with his nephew, Neil Badenhop, beginning at a young age.
During farming season, you could always find Neil, his wife Teresa, and their two sons, Isaac and Andrew on the family farm. Carl was especially proud to carry on the legacy of the family farm established in 1909, by his grandparents and parents, the late Carl Cohrs Sr. and Hilda (Seemann) Cohrs.
Carl was a man of integrity, wisdom and kindness. Above all, he will be most remembered for his profound faith in Jesus Christ.
A lifetime-confirmed member of St. John Lutheran Church in Deshler, Carl faithfully taught the Gospel of Jesus to the multiple generations during his 30 years as a Sunday School teacher. His dedication to sharing God's word left a lasting impact on countless lives.
In addition to teaching, Carl served Christ in many capacities within the church, holding various leadership roles and faithfully caring for the church's furnace and air conditioning maintenance. For fellowship and fun, he also enjoyed playing on the church's Dart ball team, winning many tournaments.
Carl's life was a testament to servant–hearted faith, and his legacy will continue through all were blessed by his example and teachings.
Carl will be dearly missed by his wife, Donna; three stepchildren, Dana (Dave) Hahn, Deshler, Brad (Debbie) Seemann, Michigan, and Doug (Miranda) Seemann, Deshler, Ohio.
His six grandchildren will forever cherish the memories they made with Carl: Amanda (Brent) Clemens, Molly (Clint) Smith, Kody (Megan) Seemann, Allison (Jeremy) Noll Seemann, Gregg (Ashley) Hahn, and Audrey (Tyler) Haas Seemann.
Carl was blessed with six step great-grandchildren: Grant, Hudson, Tanner, Gunner, Dakota, Beau and one more blessing on the way in June.
Carl is survived by his sister, Lois (Charlie), Badenhop, Wauseon, Ohio; sister-in-law, Dale Cohrs; nephews, Terry (Jean) Cohrs, Neil (Teresa) Badenhop; nieces Karri (Cohrs) Danner, Nancy (Greg) Stevens and Lori (Rob) Olds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hilda (Seemann) Cohrs Sr.; brothers, Vic Cohrs and Eldor Cohrs; sister-in-law, Janet Cohrs and nephew, James Cohrs.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, 3-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 28, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler, Ohio, with graveside services and luncheon to follow.
