George Gene Andrews, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Oct. 31, 2024, at the Defiance Area Hospice Center, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was 86 years old.
Born on Aug. 17, 1938, in Liberty Center, Ohio, to the late Guy and Bessie (Clapp) Andrews, George lived a full and vibrant life. As a young man, he embarked on an adventure to Yellowstone National Park, where he worked with park staff cultivating its natural beauty, an experience that provided him with countless cherished memories and stories to share.
On Nov. 7, 1959, George married his beloved Nancy J. Wade in Grand Rapids, Ohio. They were just weeks shy of celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary at the time of his passing.
George was an avid antique collector, a passion he shared with Nancy. They spent many happy hours together exploring garage sales, estate sales, and auctions.
George loved watching NASCAR races and feeding and observing the squirrels in his backyard. He also held a deep affection for cats, particularly his Siamese cat, Frankei. George retired from the Campbell Soup Co. after a dedicated career.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his children, Debora (Craig) Joseph and Kimberly (Kevin) Miller; his grandchildren, Allison and Andrew Miller; and his cherished cat, Frankei.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary.
Per George's wishes, there will be no services.
