Herman "Leroy" Grubaugh, age 91, of Archbold (formerly of Napoleon), passed away on Feb. 6, 2026, at his home with his daughter and son-in-law by his side.
He was born on July 12, 1934, in Napoleon to the late Forest and Enid (Core) Grubaugh. On March 28, 1958, he married the love of his life, Janet K. Shartzer and she preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 2025.
Leroy was a graduate of Napoleon High School and attended General Motors Institute. He devoted his entire career to GM Central Foundry - Defiance retiring after nearly 40 years of service. He was a member of the Napoleon Church of the Nazarene.
Leroy found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed fishing, antiquing and gardening - delivering his favorite tomatoes and lettuce to his friends and neighbors. He also loved spending winters in Leesburg, Florida, living just down the road from both his brother and sister Esther.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Solomon) Welch, and son-in-law Doug (Sara) Bullock, grandchildren, Elizabeth and Noah Bullock; great-grandchildren, Ethan Randall, Emma (Alan) Anthony, Gavin, Tristan, Connor, Hannah and Ian Grubaugh; his sister, Carole Kohn, and brother Roger (Jane) Grubaugh.
In addition to his parents and wife, Leroy was preceded in death by his children, sons, Robert Lee, Marc Leroy and Michael Todd Grubaugh, and daughter, Anne Louise Bullock; grandchildren, Sarah Randall and Matthew Grubaugh; and sister, Esther Musshel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 12 from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will begin 11 a.m. at Napoleon Church of the Nazarene, with interment to follow at Forest Hill cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Napoleon Church of the Nazarene or the Fairlawn Retirement Community.
