I knew Ed through his collecting hobby and spent a few weekends with him over the years. He was an incredibly knowledgeable man and I always enjoyed his stories. I only found out about his passing recently and wanted to express my condolences to the family. He was a great guy.

Jimmy your dad enjoyed farming very much, when he had to retire I know it began to hurt him as he missed it doing it all the farm chores, burning wood for the winter and looking back on what he made of it his property, buying all that land & preserving it for conservation purposes.
He believed in open space for a future in a farming learning center.
His devotion for the love of his animals & all the wildlife that thrived on the property he always loved seeing it each day to sunrise to sunset thru his kitchen & living room windows.
He could show you on where on the property where he found the timber rattle snake den, or the large white owl, where the deer would flourish and the best fishing spot along the shoreline of his property of the Quinebaug River.
I remember they day he was so excited on seeing an American Bald Eagle come sweeping down on the river, hunting on the farm property the eagle did. The eagle was free and as your dad has said he wanted to be free.
As he called me at my state forest headquarters, before I retired.
And he got that chance all those years when he farmed and raised his whole family doing it with his lovely wife Beverly.
Jimmy you made your dad happy and he will always remember it, you & him was alike as the both of you loved farming while the other siblings went there parted ways.
Make him rest in peace forever , now farming in gods country..

My condolences, Tim, to you and your family. I know how comfortable you made your dad in his declining years. The countless hours you and your staff spent caring for your dad's needs. From the numerous visits to the doctor to making sure he had his daily medications and groceries. You even made sure his oil tank was always full after his famous Thanksgiving Day emergency room visit when he fell carrying fire wood. I will always be amazed at how you looked after the smallest details of his comfort, such as being sure he had a cup of coffee in hand en route to the doctors! I know how hard you worked to keep your dad at home. Even two weeks before his passing you drove him home to sit in his chair, in his home, were he was most comfortable.
Please know that you were a blessing in both your mother's and father's lives.

My condolences to Jimmy, Cressa and all your daughters' families.
I know its hard to loose dad & your mom has been gone for awhile, but the many good times jimmy you had with your parents will always will be fond memories you will always will cherish forever, that is something no one can ever take that away from you.
You were very good to your dad, chopping & splitting firewood each winter, making maple syrup, raising a few heads of beef, each season making sure the hay fields was cut and bailed and making sure anything that he needed to be repaired ,you gave it all your 100% best to make him happy and I know he love & appreciated it.
