I will miss you very much Aunt Eleanor. You are truly a wonderful person. I thank god I have been able to write you many letters and send you cards over the years. Most of all I got some of your wonderful recipies. And learned to make your wonderful sponge cake from the start of my baking years. You came to my mom's(Estells's) house in Ledyard and showed me how to make it.The secret is to FOLD it gently."DO NOT STIR" My first try without you by my side came out a very tasty pound cake! I guess I stirred it too much! And didn't have your touch. Over the years I learned how to make that and many other great things. I even learned some cleaning tips from you.. Through family stories about you.
Make sure there isn't any cobwebs in your house if Aunt Eleanor is coming to visit!! (IT's a family joke!) one that I'm sure will keep going for years.
Family meant everything to you. You always kept tabs on all of us Martin kids. Giving advice and words of wisdom when we needed it.. One great one was,"Life is too short, go and enjoy yourself while you still can" I'm so glad we got to share many family get togethers with you. You are an amazing person. One who will be missed by all that knew you. You're with Uncle Leat now. A place where you've wanted to be for along time. I can almost see you up in heaven, finally taking a long over due rest..
Who am I kidding, you're up there making your great cookies. And giving out advice and making everybody laugh. Because that's who you are. I'll miss you dearly.
Love Debbie.

Ma wil be missed for her quick smile, wit and sincerity. All who knew will miss her culinary skills. Ma's legend will live on through the fine attributes passed to her compassionate daughter, Lucille.
